Africa Music Convention
On 4 and 5 September 2014, the Partnership with Africa Foundation e.V. invites to the Africa Music Convention which is an official part of the Berlin Music Week (3 to 7 September 2014). The Africa Music Convention is a platform for German and African musicians, as well as for people from the music industry and those with an interest in music, with the aim of developing and implementing project ideas together in a spirit of partnership.The Africa Music Convention offers a rich and varied programme consisting of concerts, talks and discussions: •At the WORD!Conference (location: Postbahnhof am Ostbahnhof) musicians and music professionals will reveal new trends in the music industry in Africa. Three panels will focus on the socio-political role of music styles, lyrics and life performances in Germany and African countries, will present initiatives for German-African music projects and encourage new and sustainable cooperation in music. •As part of the SOUND! showcase festival “First We Take Berlin”, the Africa Music Convention will host two club concerts and present the results of unique cooperative efforts between German and Africa artists – with the music styles ranging from hip-hop to electro. The following artists will perform live on stage of the Astra Kulturhaus and the Badehaus Szimpla and will guarantee two evenings of best music entertainment: Guy One & The Polyversal Souls (Ghana & Germany), Puppetmastaz & Biko MC (Germany & Zimbabwe), Suff Daddy & Nash (Germany & Ivory Coast), Tlale Makhene & Burnt Friedmann (South Africa & Germany), die Gebrüder Teichmann & Psychotek Tonic (Germany & Zimbabwe), DJ Raph & Carmel Zoum (Kenia & Republik Kongo/Berlin).
