Amas de leche
13 November 2024
Amas de leche (Wet nurses) is a solo exhibition by Julianny Ariza Vólquez. It shows series of multidisciplinary artworks that celebrate women’s labor, paying homage to the historical legacy of wet nurses. The pieces emphasize women’s role in nurturing humanity, exploring contrasts and intersections among themes like femininity and fertility, resilience and resignation, the expectation of female instinct to protect, and the act of denial.
The exhibition includes painting, ceramics, video art, wood and fabric installations, created within the framework of the Artpace Fall 2024 International Artist-in-Residence program.
