Anti-futurismo Cimarrón

Anti-futurismo Cimarrón
15 December 2023
Anti-futurismo Cimarrón is a collaborative exhibition adopting the Anzalduian idea of artistic work as healing. The show features 13 activist and community artists, individuals and collectives who were selected under the curatorship of Afro-Caribbean decolonial philosopher Yuderkys Espinosa-Miñoso and Chilean-born visual artist Katia Sepúlveda. The group is invited to be part of a collective creation process based on their reflections, from their experiences and different enunciative places, on a series of texts and contexts that announce the disappearance of Europe and its world project based on the conquering ego.
The whole exhibition process encompasses a year-long theoretical-practical seminar/laboratory, which began in 2021 with virtual sessions once a month. There, the following questions were debated and negotiated: What would the world be like if Europe (as a trope) disappeared? What would it be like if it had never existed? How has time been lived outside the historical time of European modernity?
Artists: Colectivo Ajchowen, Colectivo Ayllu, Imayna Cáceres, Yoel Diaz, Johanné Gómez Terrero, Grupo Katanga, Marcela Huitraiqueo, Verena Melgarejo, Nitzayra Leonor, Daniela Ortiz, Maldita Vaina, Naomi Rincón, Yelaine Rodríguez, Evel Romain, Katia Sepúlveda.
Healers: Yuderkys Espinosa and Katia Sepúlveda.
