Memoria : récits d’une autre Histoire

The exhibition Memoria : récits d’une autre Histoire (Memoria: Tales of Another History), initially conceived in France as part of the Africa2020 season under the high curatorship of N’Goné Fall and shown from February to November 2021 at the FRAC La MÉCA in Bordeaux, begins an international tour with a first stop in Abidjan at the MuCAT – Museum of Contemporary Cultures Adama Toungara.

In 2019, under the leadership of Professor Yacouba Konaté, the MuCAT opened its doors with its inaugural exhibition Prête moi ton rêve, which already showed the greatest artists of the continent. Memoria : récits d’une autre Histoire is a multidisciplinary group exhibition containing painting, photography, installation, textile, video and performance, and featuring 14 international artists, including 6 artists of Ivorian culture: Joana Choumali, LaFalaise Dion, Enam Gbewonyo, Selly Raby Kane, Gosette Lubondo, Marie-Claire Messouma Manlanbien, Carine Mansan, Rachel Marsil, Georgina Maxim, Tuli Mekondjo, Myriam Mihindou, Josèfa Ntjam, Valérie Oka, Na Chainkua Reindorf.

In collaboration with the MuCAT, the FRAC Nouvelle-Aquitaine Méca, and the IDAF-Institut des Afriques, the exhibition is enriched by an educational and pedagogical program deployed in the commune of Abobo in collaboration with schools and neighborhood cultural centers, as well as a professional component consisting of a series of exchanges and conferences on the role of the museum in the community, jobs related to museum institutions, training, financing, etc.
