(RE)COUTURE [(re)sewing] is a solo exhibition by artist Guy Gabon taking place at Le Musarth in Point-á-Pitre in Guadeloupe. In a statement curator Minia Biabiany says
Artivist Guy Gabon works on situated issues, woven with the forces of our here and now, for a balance with Mother Earth. A woman committed to respect for the environment, since 2004 she has dedicated her proposals to issues of enhancing and caring for our living system. A cathedral of siguines, a seamstress's workshop, a song by Calypso Rose, a speech by Angela Davis, a tree planted by Wangari Maathai, Guy draws on the different spaces of struggle that she carries within her, and claims a militant voice that is as much artistic and feminist as it is ecological. Because words shared with clear intention give way to listening, her work enunciates the urgency of understanding ourselves each day as "becoming".
