Cholita Chic

Cholita Chic is a collective made up of two creative sisters who live and work on the Chile-Peru-Bolivia border. Inspired by a cross-border notion and Pop Art aesthetics and what they have coined as Chicha photography, Cholita Chic visualizes the experience of people who live in those contexts to address issues of patriarchy, gender, territoriality, the future, and tradition.

Keeping their identity anonymous, Cholita Chic combines photographic production with performance art and artistic activism to denounce the exoticization of indigenous women and collectively form an inclusive imaginary with which future generations can identify.
